Kettle Bell Certification – Level 1

Kettle Bells are becoming increasingly popular in gyms and PT environments, and are used with a very large variety of clientele. They originated in Russia and was designed to meet the performance needs of the elite military and sporting professionals alike. Today they are looked upon by personal trainers as the next big thing in training options for their clients.

This course teaches you the basic practical techniques to perform Kettle Bell exercises safely and effectively. The information is a hybrid of techniques from 7 times world champion Vasily Ginko and LaVanda Elite’s own experience in exercise prescription and performance, resulting in techniques that not only minimise injury but also improve performance and effectiveness of Kettle Bell exercise.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to grip and hold a Kettle Bell, learn the common traps and mistakes
  • Learn to assess their client specifically for Kettle Bell use
  • Discover the relevance of the ankle, hip, spine and shoulder-girdle in Kettle Bell health and performance
  • Learn a series of corrective exercises, stretches and activities to address the more common problems identified in these areas
  • Learn how to correctly perform the 6 basic swings and modifications that underpin all Kettle Bell exercise

The course is very hands-on, giving participants practical knowledge they can use straight away. The theory is provided in course-notes so minimal not taking is required. Participants are assessed throughout the day to ensure they can apply what is learnt. The information in this is designed for both novice and experienced users of Kettle Bells.  There is No written exam, and participants who complete the course become LE.KBC-1 trainers.

About the Presenters

Ken LaVanda

Over the past 17 years Ken has been a gym and studio owner, training and development lecturer, strength and conditioning coach for an Australian sporting team, a masseur and a manager of 80+ Personal Trainers and Personal Training managers.

Ken has worked with all levels of fitness, specialising in Kettlebell Training Strength & Conditioning, Functional Movement, Pre & Post Natal Pregnancy, Rehabilitation, Weight loss, Body sculpting, Elite Nutrition and weight management, Bio-Signature and advanced programming.

Ken is one of only two trainers in Australia who completed his Level 3 in Elite Kettlebell training with the highest certification, he has also many modalities in various Massage techniques including sports, remedial, trigger point, relaxation, therapeutic and Craniosacral Therapy.

He has a special interest in Natural Body Building, competing over the last 8 years with personal achievements including; winning NSW& SA State Titles, Australian National Titles and a placing in the International Olympia.

Ken is currently working as international lecturer in Exercise rehabilitation, sports performance and Elite Kettlebell training, also runs his own Specialized Coaching business, training celebrities, Australian Cricketers and Olympic athletes.

Ken also mentors and coaches Personal Trainers in becoming the best they can be by helping them fast track their business.

Paul Molinia MExSci-Strength and Conditioning, Dip HSc-Nursing, AEP, ESSAM

Has been workin in the industry of personal training, exercise rehabilitation and sports performance professionally since 1993. During this time Paul has run his own PT and exercise rehabilitation studio in Manly and the Illawarra, as well as owning a gym in the Illawarra focusing on sports performance and rehabilitation.

Paul has also worked in the field of workers compensation both as a case manager, return to work consulatant and provider of exercise rehabilitation. This work has extended to a large number of blue and white-collar industries both large and small.

Since 1993 Paul has also worked as an international lecturer in sports performance, exercise based rehabilitation, workplace health and safety as well as general health and fitness. Clients have included the ARL, SAFRA, SSC, NSWIS, Fitness NSW and Aust, NSW Police, NSW Fire Brigade, Telstra, Toyota, Onesteel, Illawarra division of GP, Illawarra Rugby, Various primary and secondary schools, Centrelink, Fitness First, Multiple Fitness centers around Australia and many others.

Paul has continually kept up his PT clientele along with consulting roles with sporting professionals and clubs. Paul’s clients include general health and fitness from 8-86 and a large number of sporting organizations and individuals. these sports include: Rugby Union, Rugby League, Soccer, AFL, Gridiron, Tennis, Squash, Basketball, Netball, swimming, Track and Field, Rowing, Surf Life Saving, Wrestling, Boxing, Golf, MMA, Kick boxing, Surfing, Wind Surfing, Sailing etc. With members from amateur to international to veteran levels.

In Paul’s work in exercise rehabilitation he has worked with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders, post surgical rehabilitation and spinal injured clients. Paul is often called upon in his area to give advice to Medical professionals and the like due to his extensive knowledge in Exercise Rehabilitation.

Swiss Ball Certification – Level 1

Swiss Balls have increasingly become accepted as a useful training tool in gyms and PT environments worldwide.  They not only provide a variety of options for rehabilitation and balance training but are also useful in general exercise and training modifications.

This course teaches you the basics of Swiss Ball exercise, from the specific techniques, cueing, assessments recruitments and finally the exercises themselves The course will provide you with the base knowledge you need to perform Swiss Ball exercise safely.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to integrate the core to boost the effectiveness of SB exercise
  • Learn to assess their client specifically for Swiss Ball use
  • Learn a series of corrective exercises, stretches and activities to address the more common problems identified in the client assessment
  • Learn how to correctly perform the basic exercise positions and modifications that underpin all Swiss Ball exercise
  • Learn which exercises and positions are not suitable for your clients and why

The course is very hands-on, giving participants practical knowledge they can use straight away. The theory is provided in course-notes so minimal not taking is required. Participants are assessed throughout the day to ensure they can apply what is learnt. The focus is on usable exercise not circus tricks. There is No written exam, and participants who complete the course become LE.SBC-1 trainers.

Assessment & Corrective Exercise – Level 1

This course is designed to provide the personal trainer with a systematic approach to assessing the status of your client so as to maximise goals, and performance whilst minimising the potential for injury. Further to this, the personal trainer is provided with a catalogue of corrective exercises, stretches and activities to address any identified concerns or barriers to performance.

Participants will:

  • Learn to assess clients in static and dynamic situations
  • Learn to systematically assess the function of the major areas of dysfunction in the body from the ground up
  • Discover the relevance of the ankle, hip, spine and shoulder-girdle in client health and performance
  • Improve their knowledge of practical anatomy of these areas
  • Learn a series of corrective exercises, stretches and activities to address the more common problems identified in these areas
  • Learn what Not to do

The course is very hands-on, giving participants practical knowledge they can use straight away. The theory is provided in course-notes so minimal not taking is required.Participants are assessed throughout the day to ensure they can apply what is learnt.

This course is designed for Personal Trainers in PT environments, so no special equipment is required. There is No written exam, and participants who complete the course become LE.ACE-1 trainers.

Official Kinesio Taping Certification Course

The Kinesio Taping Method fosters the body’s natural ability to heal itself by activating neurological and circulatory systems to correct biomechanical dysfunction, relieving pain & other symptoms. Participants will learn the fundamental concepts of Kinesio Taping as well as advanced corrective techniques for mechanical, fascial, tendon/ligament, and lymphatic problems.

Upon completion of this two-day course (KT1 and KT2), participants will be issued a certificate from Kinesio USA.

Course Outcomes:

  • Describe the concepts of Kinesio Taping.
  • Review muscular anatomy as it is related to Kinesio Taping.
  • Explain and Apply the concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method.
  • Describe the unique qualities of the Kinesio Tex Tape.
  • Recognize the principles of Kinesio Tex Tape application.
  • Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided laboratory sessions.
  • Demonstrate application skills during lab sessions.
  • Practice the various cutting techniques and their clinical application.
  • Apply Kinesio Taping method to relax and stimulate muscles.
  • Apply Kinesio Taping methods for pain, swelling, joint mobility and stability.
  • Apply various taping techniques for treatment of the spine, and upper/ lower extremity dysfunction
  • Apply various taping techniques for treatment of unique conditions using the concepts and principals of the Kinesio Taping Method.

MATERIALS
The Kinesio® Taping Instructor will present material based on an International syllabus, conducted with lab sessions for taping practice.  Each participant will receive materials, books, certificate and upon completion of the course access to an online database.

KT1 Fundamental Concepts, Screening/Muscle Test, & Muscle Applications

(To be taken in conjunction with KT2)
The KT1 course is designed to introduce practitioners to the Kinesio Taping® Method. Over the course of this 8 hour class, the instructor will discuss the fundamental concepts of the Kinesio Taping® Method and the unique properties and use of Kinesio® Tex Tape. During lab sessions, attendees will have ample time to practice screening and muscle testing created for the enhancement of your KT skills and muscle applications for both the upper and lower body. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to discuss and apply the Kinesio Taping® Method to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weak muscles, and decrease pain and swelling.  In addition to instruction provided by a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor (CKTI), the attendee will receive 2 full-color Kinesio Taping® Workbooks (KT1 Workbook 1) to augment their training.  Each attendee also receives one year membership to the Kinesio Taping® Association which includes access to a reference data base.

KT2 Advanced Concepts & Corrective Techniques

(Pre-requisite, completion of KTA approved KT1 course)
The KT2 course builds on material learned in KT1. During this 8 hour class, the instructor will introduce the six Corrective Techniques (Mechanical, Functional, Space, Fascia, Ligament/Tendon, and Lymphatic) and discuss their application in a variety of clinical conditions.  During lab sessions, attendees will have ample time to practice applying these techniques to a variety of upper and lower body conditions. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to discuss and apply the KT Method to orthopedic & neurological conditions.  Attendees will receive Workbook 2 (KT Correctional Techniques and Clinical Applications) to augment their training.

Participants are recommended to:

  • Bring Scissors
  • Wear proper attire - shorts, swim suit, sports bra
  • There are limited plints - kindly bring a beach towel to lie on
  • Certificate will follow your FULL NAME.
